If your Brisbane home runs on 45kg LPG bottles, there’s a good chance you haven’t compared the price of your gas for a while.
And there’s a reason for that.
Unlike electricity plans, LPG pricing isn’t particularly easy to compare. Suppliers often require your postcode before showing a price, introductory offers can make the first couple of bottles look much cheaper than the ongoing rate, and annual bottle rental or equipment charges can sit outside the advertised cylinder price.
So we decided to take a look at what’s actually being advertised in August 2026.
The interesting part isn’t necessarily who has the cheapest first bottle.
It’s what you’re likely to be paying by the fifth, sixth or tenth.

How Much Does a 45kg LPG Bottle Cost in 2026?
Australian 45kg LPG pricing commonly sits somewhere around $120 to $170 per cylinder, although the actual price can vary significantly depending on your suburb, supplier, delivery requirements and current promotions.
One LPG comparison service currently puts the typical 2026 range at approximately $120–$170 per 45kg bottle.
But Brisbane customers currently have several promotional and negotiated rates available below that range.

Origin Currently Has the Cheapest Introductory Price
If you’re purely comparing the first two cylinders, Origin currently has a very sharp Brisbane offer.
Eligible new residential customers can receive their first two 45kg cylinders for $79 each, or $158 for the pair.
That’s significantly below the normal market price.
However, it’s important to keep reading the terms.
Once the introductory discount has been used, qualifying customers can access Origin’s extended offer, under which additional bottles are charged at the lesser of $135 per bottle or the current standard LPG price during the applicable offer period.
Origin also charges an annual LPG equipment fee separately from the cylinder price.
So the first two bottles are cheap.
The ongoing price is a different calculation.
Elgas Is Currently Offering $125 Fixed Pricing
Elgas also has a current national introductory offer for eligible new residential customers.
Its fixed-price option is $125 per 45kg bottle, with that gas price fixed until 31 December 2026.
Elgas also offers an alternative variable plan involving LPG account credits against the first two bottles.
An annual service charge applies separately to cylinders at the property.
Again, it’s important to distinguish between the advertised gas price and the total cost of having LPG supplied to the property.
Supagas Has Its Own National Introductory Offer
Supagas is currently offering eligible new residential customers 50% off their first order of two 45kg LPG cylinders, along with fixed branch pricing for 24 months.
However, Supagas branches set their own LPG pricing, so the actual ongoing cylinder price depends on the branch servicing your address.
Standard bottle rental charges also apply.
Interestingly, Supagas was also named Best-Rated LPG Supplier nationally in Canstar’s 2026 customer satisfaction results.
The RJT Plumbing & Gas Supagas Rate Is Different
RJT Plumbing & Gas customers have access to a separate Supagas arrangement.
Under the current offer provided to us by Supagas:
RJT Plumbing & Gas customers pay $110 per 45kg LPG cylinder each time they order.
The annual bottle rental is also discounted to:
$20 per cylinder, per year.
The important words there are each time you order.
This isn’t simply a heavily discounted first delivery followed by a higher advertised rate.
For eligible RJT customers, the current offer applies to ongoing cylinder orders, subject to Supagas’ terms, availability and future price changes.
What Happens When You Compare More Than Two Bottles?
This is where comparing LPG suppliers becomes more interesting.
Let’s look at a household that goes through six 45kg bottles.
RJT / Supagas offer
Six cylinders at $110:
6 × $110 = $660
For a normal two-cylinder installation, current annual rental would be:
2 × $20 = $40
That gives an indicative total of:
$700
for six cylinders plus two annual cylinder rentals.
Origin introductory and extended offer
The first two cylinders:
2 × $79 = $158
If the next four qualify for the $135 extended price:
4 × $135 = $540
Gas cost:
$698
before Origin’s annual equipment fee and any other applicable charges.
The difference in the gas itself has almost completely disappeared by the sixth bottle.
Elgas fixed-price offer
At the current fixed promotional rate:
6 × $125 = $750
plus the applicable annual service charge.
This example assumes the bottles are purchased while the fixed-price offer remains applicable.
The More LPG You Use, the More the Ongoing Price Matters
For someone using LPG only for a cooktop, an introductory discount might be the most important consideration because a cylinder could last a long time.
But it’s different for households running:
- instantaneous gas hot water
- gas storage hot water
- gas cooking
- gas heating
- multiple LPG appliances
These homes can work through considerably more gas.
At that point, saving $20 or $30 on every cylinder can become more important than saving $50 on your first two.
For example, the difference between paying $110 and $135 is:
$25 per bottle.
Across ten cylinders, that’s:
$250
And that’s before comparing cylinder rental or equipment fees.
Don’t Forget the Bottle Rental
This is one of the easiest costs to miss when comparing LPG.
The gas company generally owns the 45kg cylinders sitting beside your house.
Depending on the supplier, the associated annual charge might be described as:
- bottle rental
- cylinder rental
- equipment fee
- annual service fee
- facility fee
It isn’t necessarily included in the advertised price of the gas.
That’s why a “$125 gas bottle” from one supplier and a “$125 gas bottle” from another aren’t automatically the same deal.
You need to compare the total cost.
Why Do LPG Prices Vary So Much?
There isn’t one universal Brisbane price for a 45kg LPG cylinder.
Prices can be affected by:
- your suburb
- distance from the supplier’s depot
- delivery route
- supplier competition
- international LPG prices
- transport costs
- exchange rates
- seasonal demand
- how much gas you use
- negotiated or partner pricing
- promotional offers
Even Supagas states that its branches set their own prices.
This is why two households can potentially be supplied with the same-sized bottle from the same company while paying different rates.
Is $110 Cheap for a 45kg LPG Bottle?
Based on the current 2026 pricing we’ve been able to find, yes, $110 is a very competitive ongoing price.
It isn’t the lowest promotional price currently advertised in Brisbane. Origin’s $79 new-customer offer is lower for the first two cylinders, and Supagas itself currently offers 50% off a qualifying new customer’s first two-bottle order.
But those are introductory promotions.
The RJT customer offer is currently $110 each time an eligible customer orders, with rental discounted to $20 per cylinder per year.
That’s the part we think matters.
If you’re using LPG regularly, comparing the ongoing cylinder price rather than simply the introductory offer gives you a much better idea of what your gas is actually going to cost.
Already an RJT Customer?
If we’ve completed plumbing or gas work at your property, speak to us about the current RJT Plumbing & Gas Supagas customer offer.
Eligible customers can currently access:
45kg Supagas LPG: $110 per cylinder
Cylinder rental: $20 per cylinder, per year
Prices are subject to change and Supagas supply terms and availability apply.
If you’re also having problems with your LPG installation, regulator, changeover valve, hot water system or gas appliances, RJT Plumbing & Gas can inspect the system and make sure everything is operating safely and correctly.
Sometimes saving money on LPG is as simple as checking what you’re paying.
And sometimes the regulator sitting beside those bottles needs a bit of attention too.

Is $110 cheap for a 45kg LPG bottle?
Based on current 2026 LPG pricing, $110 is a very competitive ongoing price for a 45kg LPG cylinder. Some suppliers advertise lower introductory prices for the first one or two bottles, but the ongoing cylinder price can be higher once the introductory offer ends.
Which LPG supplier has the cheapest 45kg gas bottles in Brisbane?
There is no single cheapest LPG supplier for every Brisbane household because prices vary by suburb, supplier, promotions, delivery area, bottle rental and ongoing pricing. It is important to compare the total annual cost rather than only the introductory cylinder price.
Why are some LPG gas bottle prices much cheaper for the first delivery?
LPG suppliers often use introductory discounts to attract new customers. These offers may apply only to the first one or two cylinders, after which the customer moves to the supplier's standard or promotional ongoing rate.
Do LPG suppliers charge bottle rental as well as the price of the gas?
Yes, many LPG suppliers charge an additional annual fee for the cylinders or equipment installed at the property. This may be called bottle rental, cylinder rental, equipment rental, an annual service fee or a facility fee.
What should I compare when choosing an LPG supplier?
When comparing LPG suppliers, consider the ongoing price per cylinder, introductory discounts, annual bottle rental or equipment fees, delivery charges, price guarantees and any conditions attached to the offer.
How often does an LPG gas regulator need replacing?
Gas regulators can deteriorate or develop faults over time. If you experience inconsistent gas pressure, appliance problems or concerns about the condition of your LPG installation, a licensed gas fitter should inspect the regulator and associated equipment.
